Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal known as the West Island. The West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island to the west of Montreal However, it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief stay was not. Brugel was a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. When she was a child she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. Once I was bigger than my male counterpart then I slowed down. Many dancers make the transition to acting. In the case of the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her to go in this direction. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in the school's production. She was chosen to play the main character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions including big screen productions as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was as Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actress in the season 1 which was viewed only at times.
